Good news from Madagascar

After our very successful Lemur week here at Trotters, our Senior Keeper Lee was delighted to hear some good news about what’s thought to be the rarest species of Lemur in Madagascar.  The Greater Bamboo Lemur was thought to consist of less than 300 individuals. Now, thanks to reports from local people and the follow up research of conservationists on the island it is known that there are many more individuals and potentially twice the number of sites suitable for habitation by this highly specialised Lemur.
You can read more about this on the BBC’s Earth News

Lee himself has spent some time in Madagascar and he is now very proud that Trotters is helping to support a UK based charity called Azafady that works out in Madagascar.

Don’t forget Trotters has three species of Lemur and you can adopt a Lemur or even treat a loved one to a Lemur Encounter
